Peace Doves

The Peace Doves immersive art installation held recently in Wells Cathedral comprised thousands of paper doves suspended above the nave of the cathedral. Each dove had been individually made and contained a message of peace written by visitors to the cathedral. The installation was the idea of Peter Walker, a sculptor and artist and the artwork has been recreated for different spaces across the UK.

As war rages and ravages our beautiful world and it’s peoples, especially at this time in the Middle East and Ukraine, the cry for peace must continue to to be heard. I can think of no better words to express my call for peace than the words of the Universal Prayer for Peace. The prayer is a well known adaptation of the famous mantra from the Hindu Upanishads attributed to Satish Kumar.

Universal Prayer for Peace

Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth;
lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust;
lead me from hate to love, from war to peace.
Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe.
